Taipei offers free indoor play centers scattered throughout the city (one in each district) for children ages 0 to 6 to play! Perfect for rainy or too humid days. The way my jaw dropped when we asked how much it was when we stumbled upon our first one— the US could literally never.

Features of Taipei Parent-Child Play Centers
- Educational Variety: Each center features STEM zones, Montessori-inspired toys, arts and crafts stations, pretend play.
- Themed Layouts: No two centers are the same. For example, the Shilin center features a mini-driving track, while Wanhua focuses on traditional games and physical play.
- Specialized Areas: Every location includes a dedicated, padded area exclusively for infants (under 2 years old) to ensure safe play away from older children.
-
Top-Tier Facilities: Centers are equipped with impeccably clean restrooms, diaper-changing stations, and private breastfeeding rooms.
How to Visit
- Booking: Entry is free, but capacity is limited. You may be placed on a waiting list if the center is full, but it hasn't happened to us before— you may book a time slot in advance via the Taipei Childcare Website or the Taipei Pass app.
- Requirements: Bring your (adult) ID to register. Adults must wear socks to enter the play areas. Children usually go barefoot for grip on the play structures. Max 2 adults per 1 child.
-
Open Hours: Most centers run two sessions on weekdays (~9:30–12:00 and 2:00–5:00) and three sessions on weekends. They're closed Mondays & holidays.
